This is our 34th Anniversary! The Lithopolis Area Fine Arts Association (LAFAA) continues to bring a varied cultural program series to the area served by the Wagnalls Memorial Library. LAFAA was founded in 1973 to encourage the development of visual and performing arts in our community. Over the years it has sponsored art exhibitions, art festivals, awards to local artists, films from the classics, the annual Performing Arts Series, and Artists in the Schools workshops. The series programs and workshops have included light and serious drama, dance groups, mime, a puppeteer and a wide variety of musical events ranging from the classical to bluegrass. The Association is administered by a Governing Board of fifteen to twenty-five members elected from within the community. Programs are presented at the Wagnalls Memorial Library. The Board cannot handle all of the work required for all of the programs. Help is needed from as many members of the community as possible. LAFAA is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality entertainment in performing arts. Through its efforts the annual series has grown from one or two events to this year's schedule of six outstanding programs presented in the Wagnalls Memorial Auditorium. LAFAA board members and associates volunteer their services to promote the programs and to procure funds through memberships and advertisements. The Board of Directors at Wagnalls Memorial underwrites the Artists-in-Schools program making it possible to select and present several performances in local schools each year. For several years LAFAA has sponsored an art award for a Fairfield County artist at the Ohio State Fair. Through the years LAFAA has become known as one of the outstanding art groups in Ohio and has received the "Columbus Dispatch Community Service Award" which honors art organizations for notable cultural advancement. LAFAA has also been listed in "Who's Who in Ohio Art Groups." From 1977 to 1999 LAFAA received grants from the Ohio Arts Council. This recognition is awarded to non-profit arts groups selected for projecting high standards in performance, promotion, visual communication, and impact upon the community. LAFAA is proud to have been selected to receive grant funds from the OAC again for our 2007-2008 Performing Artist Series. LAFAA extends to you and to the Wagnalls Memorial Foundation our sincere thanks for your support. For information or to order a

Shakespeare wisely observed in The Merchant of Venice, "I hold the world, Gratiano; a stage where every man must play a part." For thirty-four years the Lithopolis Area Fine Arts Association, Inc. has persevered in bringing to the Wagnalls stage a host of artistic talents for its supportive audiences. Behind the scenes, LAFAA is staffed by a group of volunteers who are dedicated to playing their unique parts which enable the onstage performances to continue. These members of LAFAA urge you to consider using your unique abilities to help maintain the quality entertainment that we all have enjoyed. Please give us the following information if you can become an active player. Will you commit yourself to playing a part? LAFAA Welcomes New Members!
