The Alumni Banquet was held yearly since 1886. In early years it was put on by the Sophomore class for the graduating Seniors and Alumni. In the late 1970's the Sophomore class stopped hosting the banquet. The organization of the yearly banquet was picked up by the Alumni Association.
As help dwindled, the task of planning the banquet fell to Jim Shaw and his wife, Vicki. In 1995, the Shaw's decided it was too big a job to handle each year. They asked the 50 year class of Alumni to begin planning the banquet each year.
1999 was the first year that there was not an Alumni Banquet. The Class of 1949 decided not to host it. The Alumni Banquet can be hosted at any time by any 50 year class who is interested.
Jim Shaw has a banquet guideline. Class lists of honored years are provided.
The only way names and addresses on class lists can be updated is by the class itself. Whenever your CWHS graduating class has a reunion, please provide Jim Shaw with your updated class list so that it can be added to the Alumni records. All CWHS Alumni Association class records have been kept for the past twenty years and are maintained by Jim Shaw. The records stay in the Shaw & Son store vault.
There is no longer an organized CWHS Alumni Association because no one has volunteered to be officers or to organize the annual Alumni Banquet. All Alumni questions or anyone interested in volunteering for an Alumni Association officer position should contact Jim Shaw at 614-837-2605.
